Amandelbult CRP Modules 1 & 2 Debottlenecking Project

The Amandelbult CRP Modules 1 & 2 Debottlenecking Project entails the upgrade of existing infrastructure with the aim of achieving better production yields and eliminating piping downtimes of product from the concentrator to the chrome plant. The scope involves the construction of civil bases and plinths, structural steel gantries and trestles and HDPE piping along with the associated EC&I works.

Module 3 & 4 Alternative Feed and Metallurgical Grade Stacker Upgrade Project

The Chrome Recovery Plant comprises of four modules and the concentrates produced are combined and pumped to a concentrate stacker and stockpad area. The Amandelbult Concentrator consists of 3 plants, namely, UG2 #1, UG2 #2 and Merensky Plant. UG2 #1 and UG2 #2 plants predominantly treat UG2 ore with the surplus treated at the Merensky Plant. The Merensky Plant can process UG2, Merensky, UG2 opencast and waste material. The Amandelbult Chrome Recovery Plant (CRP) module 1 & 2 was successfully commissioned in 2016 to recover chromite in the UG2 slurry generated by UG2 #1 and UG2 #2 plants respectively.

Kemerton Expansion

Kemerton Expansion

Albemarle Corporation commenced construction at the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area in Western Australia to develop the Kemerton lithium hydroxide processing plant (“Kemerton”). Construction is now complete and Kemerton will process spodumene ore to produce lithium hydroxide product and a sodium sulphate by-product. Kemerton is expected to have an initial capacity of about 50,000 metric tons LCE of lithium hydroxide.
